Baseball Earns 5-4 Win Over Presbyterian
DAVIDSON — Davidson scored two runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth to overcome Presbyterian 5-4 Tuesday night at Wilson Field.
Winning for the 10th time in 12 games, the Wildcats improved to 16-11.
Tuesday’s winning run came across with one out in the eighth when Ryan Wilson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Bennett Flynn (3-0) then struck out the side in the ninth to end it.
The Wildcats entered the seventh trailing 4-2, but tied it when Wilson scored on a wild pitch after leading off with a single, and Jacob Hinderleider (double) scored on Jack Cotrone’s sacrifice fly to right.
Davidson’s first run of the night came in the first, when Wilson scored on a Hinderleider groundout, tying it at 1-1. Henry Koehler, who led all hitters with three hits, singled in Michael O’Shaughnessy in the third.
Left-hander Isaac Fix returned to the mound for the first time since late February and threw the first two innings. He allowed one hit and one earned run and struck out three before handing the ball to Ed Hall, who guided the Wildcats for three innings, allowing one hit and striking out one. Flynn recorded the final six outs, five by strikeouts.
