The Women’s Tennis team defeated GW in an indoor match on Saturday.

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women’s tennis team earned their second win in as many days with a 5-2 Atlantic 10 victory over George Washington on Saturday.

The day began with a doubles victory from top duo Daniela Porges and Kavya Patel. Patel and Porges moved to 9-4 overall as a pairing with a 7-5 win over the Colonials.

After dropping the second doubles match, Josie Schaffer and Savanna Kollock pulled out a gutsy 7-6 win in the third doubles match to give Davidson the 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

From there, the Colonials were able to grab a brief lead after winning the top two singles matches, but the Wildcats showed no panic. Porges made quick work of her opponent in the third singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory to tie the match at two points apiece.

Davidson closed the door down the stretch with a three-set win by Kavya Patel in the No. 4 spot, 6-7, 6-0, 6-2 which put the ‘Cats back in front. Then, freshman Savanna Kollock earned her third-straight singles win with a 6-2, 6-1 decision to move to 9-4 on the year.

Franny Shea sealed the deal with a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the final singles match to give the Wildcats their first conference win of the season.

The women’s tennis team will enter the final weekend of the regular season with a pair of home conference matches against VCU on Friday and Richmond on Saturday.
