ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Davidson’s 2023-24 men’s basketball schedule will include an appearance in the third annual Asheville Championship on Friday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, N.C.

The Wildcats will be one of four teams competing in the tournament alongside Clemson, 2023 NCAA Tournament team Maryland and NIT finalists University of Alabama at Birmingham. This marks the eighth consecutive season the ‘Cats will play in an MTE (multi-team event).

“In the two years that we’ve come to Asheville to kick-off the college basketball season with the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we’ve brought new fans, stronger programs and more excitement each time,” said former Wake Forest head coach and chair of the Asheville Championship, Dave Odom. “The Championship has also started gaining a reputation for buzzer-beater finishes, and with the field of teams we have coming ready to battle it out, this year could be our best one yet.”

Davidson has a storied history with the city of Asheville, dating as far back as 1915 to winning back-to-back Southern Conference Championship titles in 2011-12 and 2012-13 from inside the then-named U.S. Cellular Center.

The Wildcats wrapped up the 2022-23 campaign at 16-16 overall.

Tickets are expected to go on sale starting April 17, 2023 and can be purchased at ashevillechampionship.com

Davidson’s full 2023-24 schedule will be released at a later date.
