Smith Earns A-10 Track Performer of the Week Honors
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Sophomore Jayden Smith has been named the Atlantic 10 Men’s Track Performer of the Week after winning the 110-meter hurdles and taking third in the 200-meters at the Duke Invitational this past weekend.
The Richmond, Virginia native had himself a weekend in just his second outdoor meet of the 2023 season. Smith’s day was highlighted by a first place finish and a season-best time of 13.75 in the 110-hurdles. This time ranks top-20 in Division I and sits comfortably atop the conference.
The second-year man also earned a third place finish in the 200-meters after posting a mark of 21.93 just shy of his season-best time of 21.88 which he set at the Weems Baskin Relays two weeks ago. He ranks seventh in the conference in the 200 and is the only Atlantic 10 male athlete within the top-10 in both a hurdle event and a sprints event.
This is Smith’s fourth-career A-10 weekly honor and second of the 2023 season.
Davidson track and field will be off this weekend before heading to the Virginia Challenge and University of South Carolina Open next weekend.
