CHARLOTTE — Davidson scored the first five runs of the game Tuesday night, but N.C. State turned the tide in the fourth inning and earned a 22-7 win at Truist Field in Uptown.

With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 21-14, while the Wolfpack improved to 25-11.

The Wolfpack scored four runs in the third to cut the deficit to one, then took over with a 10-run fourth on six hits, including a grand slam by Cannon Peebles.
Tyler Douglas provided the offensive highlight for the Wildcats in a three-run second when hit belted a two-run home run to right, his third of the year, to make it 4-0. The Wildcats got on the board in the first when Ryan Wilson walked and later scored on a double steal play. In the second, Jack Cotrone doubled and scored on a Landon Reeves RBI-single, and Wilson scored in the third on Henry Koehler’s fielder’s choice.

Davidson added two runs in the seventh when Joe Haney plated Reeves with a fielder’s choice and then scored when Koehler was hit-by-a-pitch with the bases loaded.

Starter Isaac Fix threw 2.1 hitless innings and allowed two earned runs, walked two and struck out one.

Reeves, the designated hitter, was the lone Wildcat with multiple hits. Along with Peebles, LuJames Groover III also drove in five runs for N.C. State.

Former Wildcat outfielders and 2022 Davidson graduates Trevor Candelaria and Parker Nolan started for N.C. State and combined for three walks, two runs and an RBI.
