Junior Maxwell Kachkarov

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — For the second time in his career, Maxwell Kachkarov has won a weekly award from the Atlantic 10, earning the league’s Player of the Week nod on Tuesday afternoon.

The junior went 1-1 in doubles and singles play last week, leading Davidson to a 4-1 victory over Dayton on Saturday morning.

Against the Flyers, Kachkarov picked up a 6-2 doubles win at No. 1, with his partner Juan Camilo Perez Gongora, to help Davidson take an early 1-0 lead.

On the singles side, the Queens, N.Y. native also earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory on court three that ultimately sealed the match win for the Wildcats.

Kachkarov is 6-8 overall in singles play with a 7-8 record on the doubles courts and will head to Orlando, Fla. on April 26 with the Wildcats as they begin their pursuit for an A-10 title.
