Baseball Drops Midweek Game to Wofford

by | Apr 27, 2023

Baseball heads to George Washington for a 3-game series this weekend.

DAVIDSON — Wofford scored in all but one inning Tuesday night and defeated Davidson 16-6 at Wilson Field.

With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 23-16, while Wofford improved to 31-10.

Terrier leadoff hitter Marshall Toole hit a home run to left field, off the foul pole, to start the evening, and Wofford led from there. The Terriers did most of their damage by scoring five runs in the fourth and five more in the seventh to induce the 10-run rule. Wofford stole nine bases and six Terriers had multiple hits, while five drove in at least two runs.

Jake Wilhoit had the highlight for Davidson when he cleared the bases with a double to right-center in the fifth, cutting the deficit to 9-4. Henry Koehler drove in Nick Calero on a fielder’s choice in the third, and Landon Reeves doubled in a run in the sixth, before scoring on a wild pitch.

Tyler Douglas went 3-for-4, while Koehler and Ryan Wilson had two hits apiece.
