Men’s Tennis Season Ends in Semifinals Loss to #1 VCU

ORLANDO, Fla. — Davidson’s men’s tennis program concluded its 2022-23 season on Friday evening after falling 4-0 to #1 VCU in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals.
The Wildcats finish the year at 9-11 overall and 5-2 against league opponents, while senior William Clark ends his final season at Davidson at 9-9 overall, including a clutch 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 during Thursday’s quarterfinal win over George Mason.
In doubles play, Jerry Wang and Luca Lovrich were left unfinished at the No. 3 spot for the ‘Cats, as VCU won on courts one and two to take the early 1-0 lead.
From there the top-seeded Rams, who are also ranked 38th in the nation, won two-set bouts from courts three, six and one respectively, despite Juan Camilo Perez Gongora holding a 3-2 lead in the second set at No. 4.
