Annual Town Day Celebration – May 6

by | Apr 30, 2023

Back in 2019 Sterling Martin and Bill Giduz showed off their Town Day t-shirts.

Enjoy the Town of Davidson’s annual Town Day celebration on Saturday, May 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the town green. We encourage all residents to walk or ride their bikes to the green, especially since May is National Bike Month. There will be a “bike corral” near the Town of Davidson booth, and the town will have police officers stationed at key intersections to ensure safety.

We are excited to be adding the annual Bike Expo to this year’s Town Day event in celebration of May being bike month. Learn more about area bike and electric bike shops, nonprofit advocacy groups, the town’s Vision Zero efforts, the Town of Cornelius’ “Heads Up” safety campaign, and our local greenways. Bring your bike and join a guided 10-mile community ride or 2-mile family bike ride. Details about the group rides and additional Bike Month events can be found at www.townofdavidson.org/bikemonth.

Come enjoy the following, all on the Davidson town green:

  • dance, music, and acrobatic performances
  • gaga pit
  • monkey bridge
  • assorted food vendor and trucks
  • Lion’s Club Vision Van for free eye checks
  • booths featuring Davidson organizations

At the Town of Davidson booth, specifically, visitors can:

  • see the E.L.F. vehicle (the parks and recreation solar/electric bike)
  • learn about Vision Zero, the town’s pedestrian and bicyclist safety campaign
  • learn about our Climate Action Plan to help us work towards carbon neutrality by 2037.
  • get information on the programs and summer camps offered by the parks and recreation department.

“The focus on caring for our community is what led to Town Day,” said Mayor Rusty Knox. “We should all remember that we are not only neighbors and residents, but stewards of this town that is so special to all of us.”
