Heiderscheit, Patel, and Shea Earn Women’s Tennis Academic Honors
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Emma Heiderscheit, Kavya Patel, and Franny Shea were named to the College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District® Women’s Tennis team on Tuesday afternoon.
This honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Davidson’s honorees had a combined 15 wins in singles play and 24 wins in doubles matches this season.
Heiderscheit, a four-year member of the Wildcat tennis team, is a biology major who has 20 career wins in singles and 19 career victories in doubles.
Patel, a sophomore from Roswell, Georgia, was second on the team in singles wins with nine this spring and also had 11 wins in doubles action.
Shea, a senior sociology major, has played in 60 career singles matches and 63 doubles matches over her-four year career.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women’s tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced May 31.
