Wilhoit Named to A-10 All-Championship Baseball Team
RICHMOND, Va. — Davidson baseball player Jake Wilhoit has been named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Championship Team, the league announced Saturday night, following the conclusion of the league tournament at The Diamond.
Wilhoit, a junior from Knoxville, Tenn., hit .636 (7-for-11) in the seven-team, double elimination event, which ranked second-best in the league. His .714 on-base percentage also ranked second, and his .818 slugging percentage was fourth.
Wilhoit, who has played multiple positions this season, started all three tournament games at second base. He was 1-for-4 against Rhode Island Tuesday, 2-for-3 with a double against eventual champion George Mason Wednesday and a career-best 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI against Dayton on Thursday. He also scored three runs, drew two walks and was hit by a pitch in the event.
Sixth-seeded George Mason won two games against No. 4 Saint Louis Saturday to secure its first A-10 title since 2014. Patriots pitcher Chad Gartland was named Most Outstanding Performer.
