Town to Help Celebrate Juneteenth
Juneteenth, a holiday originating in Galveston, Texas in 1865 and now recognized in North Carolina and forty-three other states, celebrates the emancipation of African Americans.
This celebration, located at the Ada Jenkins Center at 212 Gamble Street, will include music, dancing, vendors, Smoke and Go food truck, a children’s activity Fun Zone, as well as a complimentary lunch for those who stop by the Welcome Tent. The day of family fun is free of charge.
Town of Davidson Housing and Equity Director Eugene considers, “Juneteenth is an important celebration for our community – what many consider to be a true Independence Day! We’re so glad folks in Davidson can gather for this special event and hope to see familiar and new friends together on this day of reflection and fun!”
