Wilson Named to ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team

by | Jun 14, 2023

Ryan Wilson earned a new honor this week.

Davidson’s Ryan Wilson has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Atlantic Region Second Team, the ABCA announced Tuesday.

The ABCA nod is the first for the junior outfielder from Durham, who last month earned Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year honors. Wilson was also named to the A-10 First Team and the A-10 All-Academic Team.

“Ryan had an exceptional year,” said Davidson coach Rucker Taylor. “He’s a wonderful player, person and ambassador for our program. This is a deserving recognition.”

Wilson started all 54 games, mostly in center field after moving over from first base, and he reached base in every contest, matching a school record. He led the A-10 in many statistical categories, including home runs (17), runs scored (70), on-base percentage (.533), slugging percentage (.737) and OPS (1.270). Wilson ranked second in the league with a .387 batting average, and his 30 hit-by-pitches set a single-season program record. He also owns Davidson’s career hit-by-pitch mark with 64.

Wilson led the Wildcats with 24 multi-hit and 14 multi-RBI games and also had a 19-game hit streak.

He is spending this summer playing for the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League.
