Beaty Park Grand Opening and Community Picnic: Saturday, July 8

DAVIDSON, NC – Join the community for a picnic in celebration of the grand opening of Beaty Park on Saturday, July 8 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Festivities will begin with a short ceremony followed by a picnic, games, activities of all kinds, and Whit’s Frozen Custard provided by the Town of Davidson for guests to enjoy while exploring the new park facilities.
The initial Beaty Park groundbreaking was held on December 14, 2021. The opening of Beaty Park has been a collaborative effort for which the town is grateful. Davidson Lands Conservancy funding and facilitating of multiple invasive plant removals with the help of Native Roots, community member clean-up days, and the Davidson Garden Club designing and funding the raised educational garden beds and pollinator maze (coming fall 2023) all contributed towards opening the park successfully.
“Beaty Park is truly a gem in this community. To have 19-acres so close to the middle of town, and passive in nature, is very uncommon. We are also thrilled to have been able to use completed compost from the town’s pilot program to reduce food waste around the park. The hope is that Beaty Park will provide folks the opportunity to experience nature and explore the woods, all while feeling as if they ventured out of the town limits,” says Parks and Recreation Director, Leslie Willis.
