Davidson LifeLine Presents: You Belong Here

Davidson LifeLine is proud to announce that we are hosting a screening of ‘You Belong Here’ on June 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Davidson Town Hall and Community Center. This is a documentary exploring the stories of LGBTQ+ persons and allies who grew up in and around rural North Carolina. The film highlights LGBTQ+ voices to promote understanding and acceptance and addresses the suicide rate among young people in the community. Following the screening will be a Q&A panel with individuals from the film and people with lived experience from our community in the Davidson area. Davidson Community Players: Mary Poppins

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.” (Shows run through July 2.)

Independence Day Patriotic Stroll
July 2 @ 6:00 p.m.
251 South Street
To walk in the stroll, residents are asked to line up in front of the 251 South Street building at 5:15 p.m. Police will be closing off South Street (starting at Cathey Street) between 5:10 and 5:35 p.m. so that participants can line up in the road and on the sidewalks. Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. All participants are encouraged to march in the parade dressed in Independence Day attire and to decorate their wagons, bicycles, tricycles, and pets in red, white, and blue. A color guard comprised of members of the police and fire departments will lead the parade up South Street onto Main Street and the town green.

Town Hall and Community Center
Dog Walker Watch encourages neighbors to assist local law enforcement by acting as extra eyes and ears while out walking their dogs. The program enhances the partnership between police and the community while providing resources for neighbors to be more aware of their surroundings and how to effectively observe and report suspicious behavior.
