John Morgan has joined the Davidson women’s soccer staff as goalkeepers coach, head coach Riley Piechnick announced Wednesday.

“I am very excited to welcome John to the Davidson women’s soccer family,” said head coach Riley Piechnick. “He brings great goalkeeping knowledge, a wealth of coaching experience at different levels and a strong work ethic. John has a contagious energy and an evident passion for the game. He will make an immediate positive impact on our program.”

Morgan most recently served as the goalkeepers coach at nearby Queens University.

“I am really excited to be part of the staff here at Davidson,” he said. “I want to thank Riley for the opportunity to be part of such a strong program. The facilities here are incredible, and everyone has been so friendly. I am looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish as a group.”

Prior to his stop at Queens, Morgan was the head coach for three years at Blue Mountain Christian University in his native Mississippi. There, he took the men’s team to its first conference postseason appearance.

Morgan also spent three years as the men’s and women’s coach at Starkville Academy (Miss.), where he led both teams to multiple state playoff appearances and also won a state title.

Morgan, who played goalie at Louisiana Christian University, has his UEFA B coaching license, USC Premier Diploma, Goalkeeper Level 2 certification and Scottish FA Goalkeeper Award. He earned his MBA from Blue Mountain Christian University.

John and his wife, Sara, have two daughters, Mariana and Katalina.
