Men’s Soccer Opening Weekend Upended by Weather
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Thursday night’s men’s soccer home opener against the High Point Panthers ended in a no contest due to weather.
The two teams played a scoreless draw in the first half before storms rolled through the Davidson College campus, putting a halt to the action.
Davidson was back on the pitch on Sunday night at Campbell with game time set for 7:00 p.m.
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – For the second time in as many games, the Davidson men’s soccer team had their match end early and in a no contest due to weather.
The Wildcats were originally set to meet the Campbell Camels at 7:00 p.m. tonight, but the contest was moved up to 5:00 p.m. due to the possibility of inclement weather.
Both teams were able to get in 44 minutes of action, which included one stoppage due to lightening, before the match was called after 43:40 had run off the clock. Davidson out shot the Camels, 8-2, during the time that play was allowed, and the ‘Cats sent four of those eight shots on goal.
The men’s soccer team will now look ahead to Wednesday for a chance to play a full 90 minutes as they are scheduled to meet Presbyterian inside Alumni Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
