Men’s Soccer Races Past Averett Behind Three Second Half Goals
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson College men’s soccer team notched three goals in the final thirty minutes of Wednesday night’s non-conference contest with the Averett Cougars en route to a 3-0 win.
The Wildcats outshot the Cougars 19-1 in the match, but it took almost an hour of game action to finally break through. Junior Alonzo Clarke broke the scoreless tie when he cleaned up a loose ball on a deflected shot by Denis Krioutchenkov to put the ‘Cats up 1-0 in the 60th minute.
Krioutchenckov later found paydirt for the first time this season when he rocketed a shot past the goalkeeper in the 85th minute on assist from Baylen Young.
Reigning A-10 Offensive Player of the Week Vincent Bennage kept his hot streak going and put the final touches on the win when he finished his shot after touches from Nicholas Cavallo and Jackson Nabors.
Davidson’s back line consisting of Cavallo, Trey Gardiner, Eamon Moylan, and Jack Brown locked down the Cougars all night and limited them to one shot the entire contest.
