Christy Vines Coming to Davidson College
Davidson College’s Deliberative Citizenship Initiative, Office of the Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer, Dean Rusk Program, Chaplain’s Office, and Public Lectures Committee are excited to present several events later this month with Christy Vines, the CEO and President of the Ideos Institute and Executive Director of the documentary film, Dialogue Lab: America. Mrs. Vines has worked extensively on transforming conflicts related to religion, race, ethnicity, and gender in both international and domestic contexts, and her insights are deeply relevant to the current challenges facing our society and communities.
On Thursday, September 28 at 4:30 pm Mrs. Vines will be hosting a workshop on Empathic Intelligence: What it is and how to cultivate it in the classroom and beyond in Studio D and give a public lecture on Faith, Race & Politics: Can empathy help bridge our divides in a polarized world? at 7:30 pm in the 900 Room. Virtual options will be available for both events. At 9 am on September 29, after a screening of her documentary, Mrs. Vines also will lead an in-person training on The Dialogue Lab Method: Creating shared meaning and enabling meaningful action in the Sprinkle Room.
