DAVIDSON, NC – In preparation for fall, the Town of Davidson encourages residents to use sustainable methods of eliminating yard waste in support of the town’s sustainability initiatives by providing free 30-gallon paper bags to residents for residential leaf pick-up. The Town of Davidson is also looking for service organizations willing to help members of the community in need of assistance with their leaf collection.

Free Kraft bags will be available for pick up (limit 10 per household) in the lobby of Davidson Town Hall & Community Center (251 South St) beginning on Monday, October 1, 2023. The compostable bags are provided by the Town Public Works Department during normal business hours from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  

• Residents are allowed up to 20 bags per week to be placed on the curb
• Bags cannot be larger than 40 gallons in size and cannot be more than 50 pounds in weight.
• There is a 4 cubic yard limit per pick-up.

Davidson is fortunate to have several local service organizations within the community. If your organization is ready and willing to provide leaf raking and collecting for those in need of assistance OR you are someone needing assistance with your leaves, please complete this form. The Town of Davidson will facilitate the connection between those who want to serve and those who need assistance by providing an updated list of volunteers online:www.townofdavidson.org/leafcollection. Those needing assistance with specific tasks will communicate directly with an organization to request service. 

The Town’s service contract with Waste Pro includes leaf removal and will collect both residential yard waste and bagged leaves along with residents’ garbage and recyclables when placed on the curb according to their regular garbage and recycling collection schedule.

Yard waste consists of excess leaves, grass clippings, tree and shrubbery trimmings, and other organic material removed during the general maintenance of a property by the homeowner. The following items are considered acceptable yard waste:

• All tree trimmings, dead plants, weeds, leaves, and dead tree debris not exceeding six feet (6’) in length, four inches (4”) in diameter and yard waste in bags no heavier than 50 pounds per bag.
