by | Oct 2, 2023

Second year running back Mari Adams broke a tackle at the other end of the field and ran this all the way to the endzone.

DAVIDSON, N.C. – On the heels of helping Davidson to a convincing win over rival San Diego, the Wildcats’ Mari Adams has been named the Pioneer Football League’s Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Sunday afternoon.

A sophomore from nearby Shelby, N.C., Adams led Davidson’s ground attack, running 14 times for 169 yards and four touchdowns. In addition to averaging 12.1 yards per carry, Adams had touchdown runs of 12, 38, 4 and 66 yards.

His four scores in a game are the most by a Wildcat since Wesley Dugger had five in a contest four years ago.

Adams is the second Davidson player to earn a weekly honor this season as Coulter Cleland was recognized week three.
