Incident Prompts Modified Lockdown at Davidson K-8
Tuesday afternoon Davidson K-8 families received the following message:
Good afternoon,
We are writing to share some important information. The safety of our students and staff is a top priority. Our school is currently on a modified lockdown due to police activity in the area. There was a threat in the immediate neighborhood, and law enforcement has advised that we move into this modified lockdown. All students and staff are safe. Learning and teaching are still taking place. We will notify you again when we are no longer in lockdown. Thank you for your support.
Law enforcement advises parents to not come to the school at this time while they conduct the neighborhood investigation.

The town posted the following message related to the incident.
An unspecified threat was received at approximately 12:00 p.m. today, October 3, 2023 in the 600 block of South Street. Davidson Police responded to the address, secured the area, and a nearby school was temporarily placed in a modified lockdown status. Davidson PD requested assistance from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department At approximately 2:00 p.m. the location returned to normal operations and the modified lockdown at the school was lifted.
