How Politicization of Our Courts Threatens our Democracy: We live in a time of political polarization that seems to affect every aspect of our republic. The courts that we expect to render justice fairly and impartially are increasingly politicized. When political agendas drive judicial outcomes, we cease to trust our courts and our judiciary. And when we lose faith in our system of justice, democracy itself is at risk.

Join fellow yarn and textile enthusiasts to share inspiration, ideas, and stories from our experiences as knitters, crocheters, and crafters. This program is not led by an instructor–it’s a social circle for sharing, building understanding and community. Meet up with other knitters or crocheters for self-directed projects in yarn and thread. Bring your own project to work on–no supplies are provided. While you’re here, check out our many crafting books with knitting and crocheting projects to try. Join us on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

Come join us to make your very own Bristlebot! In this program preteens will design and test out their very own small robot and foster skills in technology and engineering as we learn how batteries, motors, and circuits operate. Bristlebots are small robots that move around and seem to have their own personalities. Participants will be encouraged to test out hypotheses while designing their bristlebot and put their plans to the test! This program will be provided by Davidson library staff, and is recommended for preteens ages 9 to 12.
