Successful Run For Green Boosts Regional Conservation
Mother Nature, being a huge fan of regional conservation, served up a perfect day for the 18th annual Run For Green held Saturday, September 30. The annual race, benefiting Davidson Lands Conservancy, attracted nearly 700 runners competing in 5k, 10k, or half-marathon races, while enjoying Davidson’s tree canopy, natural areas, and greenways.
Jeanie Walser from Winston-Salem ran a half-marathon and summed up the day perfectly: “The race was fantastic. There was great
weather and a challenging course that was made even better by the huge amount of support along the way. The live DJ and good beer at the end made any pain well worth the effort.”
Run For Green is the Conservancy’s only annual fundraiser. The proceeds from the Race and the community engagement are vital to advancing land conservation, expanding greenways, and protecting tree canopy and wildlife habitat. This year’s leadership sponsors include Trane Technologies, MSC, Williams, River Run Limited Partnership, and Colonial Pipeline.
Sterling Martin, one of the Conservancy’s most dedicated and giving volunteers remarked: “This year’s Race was probably our best ever because of the incredible commitment of our 200+ volunteers and the loyalty of our runners. I love this event for the community and for what it does for the Conservancy and our area.”
