Field Hockey Falls to No. 14 Saint Joseph’s
MERION STATION, Pa. — The Saint Joseph’s field hockey team has climbed to No. 14 nationally this year, and the Hawks showed a few reasons why during a 5-0 win over Davidson Friday afternoon.
With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 5-11 overall and 0-6 in the Atlantic 10. The Hawks improved to 12-4 and 6-0.
Manu Ghigliotti, a former A-10 Player of the Year, scored a minute into the game on a high-arcing shot in transition. From there, the Hawks got two goals apiece from Lily Santi and Sol Borensztein, who were A-10 Player and A-10 Rookie of the Year, respectively, last season.
The Wildcats finished with two shots, including one apiece from Hannah Merritt and Sarah Grace Clifton. Clifton’s fourth-period shot required a save.
Davidson earned two penalty corners, both in the second quarter.
Keeper Cato Roell faced 21 shots, including 11 on goal, and made six stops.
