DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson College women’s soccer team fell 2-0 Sunday to La Salle in its season finale at Alumni Stadium.

The conference loss wraps up the Wildcats year with a 4-11-2 overall record and 1-7-2 mark in league action. The win improves the Explorers to 10-5-3 overall and 8-1-1 in the Atlantic 10.

The ‘Cats were led on offense by Aleia Gisolfi-McCready with two shots, Brooke Roumy with one shot in addition to Riley Patton and Savannah Pruitt who each landed a dangerous shot to the crossbar.

Goalkeeper Emily Smith ended the contest with two saves over 90 minutes.

La Salle notched its first score of the contest in the sixth minute with a corner kick that found the head of Ricshya Walker for an early 1-0 lead.

The Explorers added an insurance goal at 27:53 when Justyce Hollenbach landed a shot to the upper corner of the net.

Davidson’s best chances at preventing the shut out first came when Pruitt set a rocket of the shot that landed just in the corner of the wood work. Later on, Patton would look to repeat on her impressive free kick goal from a game ago but her effort was just shy as it was stopped by the crossbar as well.

For the game, La Salle led in shots on goal (4-0) and corner kicks (7-4) while both teams took six total shots.

Sunday’s match marks the final one in the careers of Patton, Shea Bonacci, Brooke Ditcham, Phoebe Fowler and Emma Peddrick who are thanked for all their contributions to the program.
