Volleyball Welcomes VCU for Midweek Rematch
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson volleyball team kicks off a three-match week with a midweek contest against VCU on McKillop Court Wednesday, Oct. 25.
The ‘Cats and Rams will square off at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ with Sam Goldfarb on the call.
LIFE LATELY… Davidson has won four of its last six matches, entering the week on a two-game win streak with a sweep over George Mason. Over the weekend, Bella Brady collected 45 digs and Sola Omonije paced the Wildcat offense with eight total blocks and a .500 attacking percentage.
BRADY’S BUNCH… On Monday, Bella Brady was named the Atlantic 10’s Defensive Player of the Week for the 10th time in her career. The Winter Park, Fla. native has been recognized 11 times by the league, capturing a Rookie of the Week honor during her freshman season. Last week, Brady earned 6.43 digs per set in addition to five service aces against George Mason to capture the honor.
ABOUT VCU… The Rams are 11-10 overall this season, but 8-3 in conference action. VCU has dropped contests to Fordham and Loyola, and has George Mason, George Washington and Dayton remaining on its calendar. In early October, the Rams defeated Davidson in three sets, powered by a match-high 16 kills from Jasmine Knight.
WHERE IT STANDS… The Wildcats currently sit in fourth place among the A-10 standings with a 6-5 league record. With three weeks of the regular season left to play, Dayton is alone at the top with an 11-0 record while Loyola Chicago (9-2) and VCU (8-3) round out the top three.
UP AHEAD… Davidson will travel to the Bronx, N.Y. for a pair of matches against Fordham on Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Oct. 29.
