Weekend Wildcat Wrestling Results

Davidson Wrestlers participated in several events this past weekend.

 

The Davidson wrestling team competed at two separate meets, the King Open and the Navy Classic, on Saturday.

Freshmen Enis Lvikovic, Dylan Smith, and DJ Spring II took third place at the King Open and Tyler-Xavier McKnight made it to the consolation semifinals at the Navy Classic.

Lvikovic, a freshman from Naples, Florida, bounced back in a big way after dropping his opening-round match at 125. The Barron Collier product won four straight matches to place third by decisions of 4-1, 9-3, 7-5, and 10-3. Ljikovic defeated King’s Tyson Upchurch 10-3 in the third-place match.

In his first action of the season, freshman Dylan Smith grabbed third place at 184 pounds at the King Open. Smith won hist round match, 7-1, before falling in the quarterfinals. In the consolation bracket, the Newton, North Carolina native won four straight including a 15-2 major decision to earn a spot in the third-place match then, won the third-place crown after a medical forfeit.

Also placing for the Wildcats was heavyweight DJ Spring II. Spring placed for the second time in three events with a third-place finish. The Newton, North Carolina product also rebounded from a first-round loss with five victories in the consolation bracket to earn third. Spring got a 13-4 major decision win the consolation final and a pin in the consolation semis on his way to another placement.

Senior Dan Yetsick also made it to the third-place match but fell in the final to take fourth place at 157 pounds.

At the Navy Classic, Tyler-Xavier McKnight made it to the consolation semifinals before falling 4-1 one match before the third-place bout. Four Wildcats including Joshua Viarengo, Tanner Peake, Marc Koch, and Cameo Blankenship all made it to the consolation quarterfinals.
