Wildcat Women’s Basketball Continues Winning Ways

BALTIMORE, MD. – After leading by just four points at halftime, the Davidson women’s basketball team used a 20-7 third quarter to pull away from Morgan State 62-48 on the road Saturday.

Junior Issy Morgan led the Wildcats with a season-high 17 points after making all but two of her shot attempts, including a 2-of-2 effort from the 3-point line and a 5-of-5 showing from the charity stripe. Morgan tacked on four rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block to complete her stat line.

Millie Prior was the remaining ‘Cat to score in double digits as she posted an all-around effort with 14 points, eight rebounds, one steal and one block.

Charlise Dunn (8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals) and Elle Sutphin (8 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals) aided in Davidson’s pull-away effort.

As a team, the Wildcats out-rebounded the Bears by a plus-11 margin (36-25), including 13 offensive boards while holding Morgan State to only six offensive rebounds.

Morgan hit the first three of the game before the Wildcats and Bears went basket-for-basket with the ‘Cats leading by only one (16-15) entering the second.

Morgan State held an advantage on two seperate occasions during the second quarter before the Wildcats headed into the break up 31-27.

Over the final 20 minutes of play, Davidson outscored the Bears 31-21, shooting 10-of-21 from the floor and knocking down all 10 of its free throws.

Davidson improves to 4-1 on the year while Morgan State moves to 2-2.

Joelle Johnson paced Morgan State with a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double effort.
