Karen Toney and team Ben & Jerry's are the reigning Trike Race champions.

This year marks the third time that grown adults will get on oversized tricycles and race, slalom style, down Main Street. The event takes place after the North Meck Holiday Parade, and occurs while Main Street is still closed to vehicular traffic.

Karen Toney, of Ben & Jerry's fame, had the idea for the race and convinced the Town's Economic Development Director Kim Fleming that it should be added to the list of Christmas in Davidson events. The rest is, as they say, history.

Groups, families, businesses are encouraged to sign up to compete for the glory of winning this iconic competition. It is worth noting that team Ben & Jerry's has won the competition the past two years. While there has been no official conspiracy theory regarding their wins, a third straight win may raise some eyebrows of observant fans.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate and the competition will be stiff in this year's event. Sign up now and don't forget to be there to watch the race Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
