The Town of Davidson invites residents and community members to join the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration being held on Monday, January 15, 2024, in the Davidson Town Hall & Community Center. This year’s event will include musical performances and spoken word and was envisioned by the Planning Committee through the lens of the event’s theme, ‘It Starts with Me – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion—Actualizing the Dream.’

The Parthenon Marbles had adorned the Parthenon for over two thousand years, when Lord Elgin, a British diplomat, removed them from Athens to Britain in the first years of the nineteenth century. Housed in the British Museum since 1817, these treasured works of art remain a source of continuing controversy between the United Kingdom and Greece, which seeks their return. How did the sculptures come from Greece to Britain over two centuries ago, and who is their rightful owner today?

Interested in sharing your ideas, working with peers, and earning community service hours? Teens will work collaboratively on projects and services that will improve how teens use and engage with the Library. Come hang out with us for crafts, snacks, and service! This program will be provided by Davidson library staff, and is recommended for teens ages 12 to 18.
Information about this Group – The Teen Advisory Council meets monthly to discuss how teens can be more involved at the Library and help their community. Have your voice heard, and help us to make the Library a better place for teens!
