The Town of Davidson is pleased to announce the schedule for the 2024 Civics 101 program.  This ten-week educational session is open to those who live or work within Davidson’s town limits or within the extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ), who are 18 and older, and who have not taken the class previously. There is no cost to attend. Those who qualify and are interested in participating should complete the registration form by the February 15, 2024, deadline.

Civics 101 is an educational and fun 10-week course with interactive discussion, an opportunity to gain experience about the inner workings of local government and meet new people. The program offers content about the work being accomplished within the Town’s Strategic Plan and other important initiatives. The 2024 session will launch in early March with a bus tour of the Town led by Town Manager Jamie Justice and staff-led tours of the recently rehabilitated Town Hall and Community Center.

It’s a fantastic program that allows for great interaction between community members and Town staff,” said Town Manager Jamie Justice. “We’ll be back this year with a fresh perspective and can’t wait to engage with program participants in this unique and worthwhile course.”

Registration Information: 

• Online applications are available at www.townofdavidson.org/Civics101. Hard copy applications will be made available in the main lobby of the Davidson Town Hall & Community Center, 251 South Street.
• Classes are held at the Davidson Town Hall & Community Center, 251 South Street
• Two sessions are offered; registrants may self-select upon applying.
  • Morning sessions are conducted from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • Evening sessions are conducted from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• The maximum enrollment for each class is 25 participants, with a 15-participant minimum enrollment. Should less than 15 participants express interest, the session will be cancelled.
• Acceptance to the program is on a first come, first serve basis.  Registrants must commit to attending all sessions at the time of submitting their application.  Participants will be notified with confirmation of enrollment after February 15, 2024.

• Saturday, March 9, 2024, Welcome Event for confirmed registered participants.
• Town Hall & Community Center, 251 South Street
• Thursday, March 14, 2024, Classes begin.
• In-person classes are held on Thursdays from March 14 – May 23, 2024.
• Thursday, May 23, 2024
• The Civics 101 course concludes with a combined 7:00 p.m. session which includes a Q & A panel with the Davidson Board of Commissioners and Graduation Celebration.
