The Jazz Ensemble is excited to welcome saxophonist Alexa Tarantino. An award-winning musician, composer, and educator, Alexa’s high-octane energy and original compositions establish her individual voice which shines through as a dynamic performer and educator. Tarantino was recently named one of the top five alto saxophonists of 2019 by the JazzTimes Critics’ poll and nominated as a Rising Star – Alto Saxophone by Downbeat Magazine’s 2020 and 2021 critics’ poll. Please check in with library staff beginning at 9:00 am on the day of the Storytime – the first 12 babies and their caregivers are able to attend. Babies experience brain stimulation through language and socialization. Engage your little one with new sights and sounds through books, songs, and rhymes.

Smith Artists Series: Drum Tao

The Smith Artist Series is excited to present DRUM TAO. For 20 years, DRUM TAO has performed around the world creating phenomenal performances and expressions consisting of incomparable “Wadaiko-drums” and the beautiful melody of Japanese flutes and harps. DRUM TAO has brought their high energy show to over 9 million people, and we are excited to have them perform at Davidson. Organ at Davidson continues in February as they host two local artists: soprano, Sarah Allred, and organist, David Brinson. One part of the program will be devoted to organ music performed by Mr. Brinson, Director of Music and Organist at Davidson College Presbyterian Church (DCPC). The other part of the program will feature Ms. Allred, Associate Director of Music at DCPC. This recital is free in-person and online at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, 100 N.
