Women’s Tennis Ranked Fifth, Heiderscheit Earns Preseason Honors
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Davidson College women’s tennis team is projected to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 this season the league office announced Thursday with the unveiling of its annual preseason poll.
Senior and Naples, Fla. Native Emma Heiderscheit, who returns for an additional year with the Wildcats, earned A-10 Preseason accolades.
Heiderscheit was a College Sports Communicators All-District honoree a season ago while playing 15 matches in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots for the ‘Cats. The senior has played all seven of her singles matches this season from the No.1 position in addition to pairing up on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts for doubles play.
As a team, Davidson, who kicked off competition Jan. 26 with a 6-1 win over Queens, claims a 5-2 overall record prior to the start of A-10 action. The Wildcats were tabbed fifth in the league via the preseason poll.
The 2024 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championships will take place in Orlando, Fla. at the USTA National Campus from April 24-27.
