Women’s Basketball Edged Out by George Washington
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Nye Robertson scored a game-high 21 points as George Washington defeated Davidson on Senior Night with a 45-40 victory Wednesday evening inside John M. Belk Arena.
Playing their first game in 11 days, the Wildcats fall to 18-10 overall and 8-9 in league play.
Trailing 28-20, Davidson closed the third quarter on an 11-3 run, then scored four straight to begin the final period, grabbing its first advantage since the opening minutes.
The Wildcats would push the lead to 40-36 on a Mallorie Haines’ layup with 4:55 to play, but that would be the last time they score. George Washington (12-18, 5-12) concluded the contest with nine unanswered, including seven from Robertson.
Despite shooting just 30 percent from the floor, the Revolutionaries hit six 3-pointers and made 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. Davidson was just 7-of-15 at the stripe.
Maddie Plank was the lone Wildcat in double figures with 12 points. Katie Donovan had a good night on the boards bringing in nine rebounds.
