Sunday – The Davidson women’s tennis team opened the day sweeping doubles competition before holding onto its lead through singles action on the way to a 5-2 match victory over Duquesne Sunday.

“I’m proud of the team for bouncing back so well after yesterday,” said head coach Susanne Depka. “They took the lessons and improved. Doubles was great. We won all three and worked on all our processes. Duquesne did not give up and made us work for the match which was a good test for us. I’m looking forward to spending time with the team in Florida and our next match versus Rollins.”

Sunday’s win improves Davidson’s overall record to 6-4 while its mark in the Atlantic 10 moves to 1-1.

Kavya Patel and Daniela Porges remained undefeated in doubles action for the weekend as they won in 6-0 fashion in the No. 1 spot. Emma Heiderscheit and Olivia Hooper on court two picked up a 6-3 win while Savanna Kollock and Bryson Langford completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 triumph of their own in the No. 3 position.

With the Dukes securing two team points via wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, Porges captured a solid win in the No. 3 spot, taking a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Patel on court four was able to secure a singles win as well by way of 6-3, 6-2 win.

The Wildcats were able to secure the match in its entirety with wins by rookies Langford (6-2, 6-3) on court five and Ines Roti (6-4, 6-4) on court six.

Davidson will pack and prepare for a road trip as it travels to Winter Park, Fla. to battle Rollins College March 8 and 3 p.m.

Saturday – Kavya Patel picked up Davidson women’s tennis’ lone single victory while Elon defeated the ‘Cats 6-1 on the Davidson Tennis Courts Saturday afternoon.

“It was a tough match and a lot of mental challenges,” said head coach Susanne Depka. “We pushed four three-set matches and had chances in all of them. The match could have gone either way and we came up a bit short. We learned a lot from this match and hope to bring those lessons into tomorrows match.”

Kavya Patel and Daniela Porges teamed up in the No. 1 doubles spot to take a 6-2 victory, but the Pheonix’s took wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to earn the team point.
