Men’s Basketball Hosts Loyola Wednesday on Senior Night
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson men’s basketball team will close out its home season with a midweek contest against Loyola Chicago on Wednesday night.
Prior to the 7 p.m. tip off, the Wildcats will honor its three senior scholar-athletes in David Skogman, Grant Huffman and Chris Sosnik. Victor Taylor, a four-year team manager, will also be honored pregame.
The Atlantic 10 contest will air on ESPN+ and Bally Sports South with Tom Werme and Sam Golfarb on the call.

• Davidson enters Saturday’s match up at 15-14 overall and 5-11 in league play.
• Of the Wildcats’ 11 conference losses, eight have come within five points or less. Three have been in overtime.
• In those eight losses, the ‘Cats have been tied or held the lead over their opponent in the second half.
• Point guard Grant Huffman leads the ‘Cats in scoring (12.9 ppg) and paces the Atlantic 10 with 5.1 assists per game. His 149 total assists is also good for first in the league (45th nationally), while the senior is averaging 13.6 points per game in conference play.
• Sophomore Reed Bailey is averaging 15.2 points per game in league play while scoring 19 points per game across his last seven outings.
ABOUT THE RAMBLERS
• Loyola Chicago heads to Davidson after knocking off No. 21 Dayton at home, 77-72.
• In their first nationally ranked home win since 1986, the Ramblers were led by Des Watson (24 pts) and Braden Norris (19 pts, 11 assists).
• On the year, Watson leads Loyola with 13.1 points per game followed by Philip Alston’s 12.8 ppg.

• Loyola Chicago drained 14 3-pointers to defeat Davidson College for the first time ever on Feb. 4, 2024.
• Reed Bailey and Grant Huffman led Davidson with 23 points apiece, while Huffman also added eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
• Bailey finished the day 8-of-13 from the floor and 3-of-5 from deep in the third 20-point performance of his career.
• Davidson outscored Loyola 34-22 in the paint, while the Ramblers had 31 points from its bench.

• Matt Cross scored a game-high 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting and Massachusetts used a late rally to get by Davidson, 69-67, in Atlantic 10 men’s basketball action last Saturday.
• Trailing 57-51 after a pair of Minutemen treys, Davidson used a 15-6 spurt capped by three straight backdoor layups from Connor Kochera to go back in front 66-63 with 1:25 to play
• On the next two possessions, UMass (19-10, 10-7 A-10) forced a pair of Wildcat miscues turning them into points at the other end to re-take the lead for good.
• Davidson missed a free throw in the closing seconds and had another turnover with a chance to tie or take the lead.
SENIOR DAY CELEBRATIONS
• A two-year captain for the Wildcats, Grant Huffman has appeared in 114 contests, including 66 starts. A preseason selection to the league’s all-defensive team, Huffman leads the Atlantic 10 in assists per game and total assists, while also ranking among conference leaders in points per game, assist/turnover ratio, steals per game and minutes played
• Voted a team captain in the preseason, David Skogman joined the Davidson men’s basketball team in 2022 after three seasons at the University of Buffalo. The 6-10 forward was leading the conference in 3-point field-goal percentage at 47.1 percent, while averaging 13.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game prior to his season ending injury. In 49 games with the Wildcats, Skogman scored in double figures 21 times highlighted by a career-high 30 points in Davidson’s win over cross-county rival Charlotte.
• From student manager and practice player to voted team captain in the offseason, Chris Sosnik joined the Wildcats as a walk-on prior to the 2022-23 campaign. Along with his leadership on the court, Sosnik is a member of the Davidson College Honor Council, serves as President of the Sports Management Club and is an active member of Kappa Sigma.
