Davidson Horticultural Symposium XXXVIII
The 38th Davidson Horticultural Symposium titled “Meeting the Challenge: Gardening for a Greener Future” was held at Davidson College on March 5. The speakers spoke to the questions of “How do we meet the challenge of a changing climate? How do we build a sustainable environment in our gardens that nurtures our plants, small animal life, and our souls? In this new world, what does it mean to match the right plant to the right location?”
Sarah Dumser, Chair of this year’s Symposium, welcomed the almost 500 guests and introduced the speakers. With the tireless efforts of Davidson Garden Club members, this year’s event was a great success. It was a day filled with all things gardening: plants, books, flowers, pottery, and wonderful speakers. Lunch was held in Vail Commons and one lucky winner at each table went home with the centerpiece.
