The Wildcats played matches in Illinois this weekend.

O’FALLON, Ill. – The Davidson men’s tennis team dropped a pair of Atlantic 10 matches in Illinois over the weekend against Saint Louis and Dayton.

The losses move the ‘Cats overall record to 5-7 and its A-10 mark to 2-3.

Friday’s contest saw the Wildcats take the doubles point with Maxwell Kachkarov and Juan Camilo Perez Gongora earning a 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot and the pairing of Udday Singh and Nico Pinzon sealing the deal with a 7-6 (7-2) victory on court two.

Perez Gongora was the lone Davidson player to claim a win in singles action, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 victory on court two. However, the Billikens swept the remaining singles matches on the way to a 4-2 win.

In Saturday doubles play, Singh and Pinzon were left unfinished at the No. 2 spot leading 4-3 as Dayton won on courts one and three to take the early 1-0 lead.

From there, the Flyers won two-set bouts from courts six, two and three respectively to earn a 4-0 sweep, despite Perez Gongora holding a 6-3, 5-4 lead through two sets at No. 1.

Davidson will continue its roadtrip when it travels to face in-state non-conference opponent Elon 3 p.m. March 19.
