Davidson Police Department Awarded Lifesaving Equipment Grant

by | Mar 14, 2024

The Town of Davidson Police Department (DPD) received a $12,000 grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® to ensure local first responders have the necessary equipment to keep community members and themselves safe. The grant was used to purchase two Recon Interceptor law enforcement specific mountain bicycles equipped with emergency lights and warning devices, fulfilling a critical need within the Town’s Police Department.

“We are grateful to the Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs (9826 Gilead Road Huntersville, NC) for awarding this grant to the Davidson Police Department,” said Kim Davidson, Police Chief of the DPD. “Equipped with law enforcement Recon Interceptor bicycles, Davidson police officers can now patrol our business districts and greenways, as well as engage with the community in ways that aren’t feasible while driving in standard police vehicles. These bicycles enhance the officers’ ability to serve the residents of the Town of Davidson and respond promptly to service calls, especially in areas where a police vehicle might not be suitable, ensuring a heightened level of response during emergency situations.”

For the past 18 years, charitable donations have been the driving force behind Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® supporting first responders and public safety organizations nationwide.
