Lacrosse Hosts VCU on Field 76 Wednesday

The new field at the Davidson College Stadium is named “Field 76.”

 

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson lacrosse program will hold its inaugural game on Field 76 from inside the Davidson College Stadium on Wednesday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. against the VCU Rams.

The first 100 fans will receive custom Davidson lacrosse t-shirts, while Chick-Fil-A sandwiches will be available to students while supplies last.

UNTIL NOW… 
The Wildcats enter Wednesday’s match up at 4-5 overall and 1-1 in Atlantic 10 play after a win over La Salle and a narrow loss to No. 24 Richmond. Josie Lambert and Riley Cochrane lead the offense with 28 points apiece, while freshman Jenna Skibbe has 24 goals in her debut season. Sophomores Alanna Dumalac and Allie Hartnettalso pace the ‘Cats with 29 and 19 draw controls, respectively.

ABOUT THE RAMS… 
VCU holds a 2-6 record overall, with a 24-12 win over George Mason last week. In the win, junior attacker Mia George scored a career-high five goals and won the A-10’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week honor. Since 2016, Davidson is 6-2 against the Rams including last season’s 8-7 overtime thriller from Richmond.

DEFENSIVE DEPTH…
Davidson’s defensive core is made up of four senior scholar-athletes in Alyssa Natoli, Noelle Cegielski, Morgan O’Brien and Brynn Jones. Between them, they have appeared in 210 games, picked up 230 ground balls and caused 143 turnovers. With four wins this season, the defensive core has helped lead its senior class to 40 career wins, the most of any graduating class in program history.
