Men’s Tennis summer camps in June 2024

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson men’s tennis head coach Drew Barrett announced the opening of registration for this year’s Wildcat Tennis Camp from June 24-28 featuring day camp and overnight camp.

For over forty years Davidson tennis has been dedicated to encouraging and instructing all levels of tennis players. Their emphasis is on the individual; with the goal to improve each student’s playing ability and enjoyment of the game. To accomplish this, we accept a limited number of students. The students work with excellent tennis instructors in small groups and individually. The instructors analyze and recognize each player’s strengths and work to strengthen weaknesses. Join us for a week of learning, improvement and fun!

The camp will run from June 24-28 with the option to sign up for day camp or for overnight camp. Camps are open for boys and girls ages nine through 18. Included in the cost of camp is a camp logo item for each player, full supervision while attending the camp, five-to-one student-teacher ratio and memories to last a lifetime.

Upon arrival at camp each player is observed so that players of similar levels are grouped together. Each group of students is assigned to an instructor who will work with the group as a whole and also with each individual. In this way, the player benefits from his individual coaching and also from general comments made to other players in his group.

During the week campers receive the following:

– Five to six hours of daily instruction on the courts.
– Instruction on stroke production and proper shot execution.
– Drill situations to improve singles and doubles play.
– Time set aside for competition, free tennis and playing with instructors.
– Discussions on tennis strategy and match play.

Check-in time each day will be 7-8:20 a.m. at the dorms (there will be the possibility of early check-in for overnight campers for an additional fee) while check-out will occur at 5 p.m. at the dorms.

Campers are supervised by our staff 24 hours a day, during all tennis and non-tennis activities. Counselors sleep in the dorms, eat meals and participate in evening activities with campers. Our counselor to camper ratio of one to five facilitates effective supervision and teaching.
