Baseball Scores 21 in Sunday Win Over Sienna, Sweeps Series
DAVIDSON — Davidson scored a season-high 21 runs, won its fourth straight game and wrapped up its first series sweep of the season Sunday in a 21-1 victory over Siena at Wilson Field.
The Wildcats improved to 11-12, thanks to shutdown pitching and scoring 11 and eight runs in the second and third innings, respectively.
In the 11-run second, the Wildcats tallied eight hits and got help from two errors to blow the game open.
Aidan Rice went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs, while Cider Canon was 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Noah Jouras had two hits, and Michael O’Shaughnessy, Jake Wilhoit and Jack Cotrone had two RBIs apiece. Eli Putnam’s leadoff double off the wall in the second was the Wildcats’ only extra-base hit.
Starter Ryan Feczko (2-3) did the job on the mound, tossing five innings. He allowed three hits and one unearned run, walked two and struck out five. Isaac Fix and Thomas Whelan threw hitless sixth and seventh innings, respectively, to end it.
