Season-Low Scores Give Wildcats’ Golf Another Top-5 Finish

SNOW HILL, N.C. – In addition to Alex Heffner (64) and Price Miller (66) combining to shoot 14-under par, Davidson carded a season and tournament-low 17-under 271 in the final round of the 2024 Cutter Creek Intercollegiate to record its eighth Top-5 finish in nine tournaments this season.

Unlike most tournaments, each team has six competitors in their respective lineup with the top four scores counting towards the team total.

Coming off a sixth-place finish last weekend in Wilmington, Heffner (-4 | T-7) climbed 29 spots up the leaderboard Sunday for his 13th career Top-10 showing.

Will Davis continued his steady play finishing just two strokes behind Heffner with a three-day total of 214 | -2 (73-70-71) and tie for 13th.

As a team, Davidson entered the final day in ninth place before concluding the 54-hole event at 7-under 857 (296-290-271) to take home fourth.

East Carolina (-24), the tournament host, led wire-to-wire claiming the team title by two shots over runner-up Elon (-22).

Miller, who led the Wildcats in Friday’s opening round with a 72, bettered his career-low by three shots highlighted by an eagle on the closing hole to finish just inside the Top-25.

Joshua Stewart (+7) also signed for a sub-par round this afternoon to round out Davidson’s team total. Davis Sayman (+11) and Benjamin Newfield (+14) were also in the ‘Cats’ lineup this weekend, while Adam Lauer (+19) competed as an individual.

The Pirates’ Lucas Augustsson (-9) birdied the Par 5 last to capture the individual crown by a swing over teammate P. Linberg Bondestad (-8).
