Friday — Anderson Fulk’s two-run, ninth-inning, walk-off home run lifted VCU to a 10-8 win over Davidson in Atlantic 10 baseball Friday night.

With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 14-15 overall and 2-2 in the A-10, while VCU (20-10) moved to 3-1 in league play.

Davidson had the offensive clicking early and built an 8-4 lead after Jacob Friend and Michael O’Shaughnessy homered in the fourth inning. Friend’s two-run shot, his fifth of the year, was an inside-the-park homer. It careened off the center field wall and a VCU player, allowing Friend to motor around. Two batters later, O’Shaughnessy launched his team-leading eighth homer over the wall in left-center.

But VCU tied the game at 8-8 in the sixth when it scored two runs on three hits, and Fulk’s home run came with one out in the ninth.

A two-RBI single from Tyler Douglas gave the Wildcats a first-inning lead, and the Wildcats moved back in front 5-3 with a three-run third that included an O’Shaughnessy two-RBI single and a Jake Wilhoit RBI-single. Wilhoit finished the night 3-for-3.

Starter Wilson Perkins threw 4.2 innings before handing the ball to Matt Weber (3.1) and Jason Ban (0.1).

Saturday — VCU rallied with five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and handed Davidson a 7-4 Atlantic 10 baseball loss Saturday afternoon at The Diamond.

Coupled with Friday’s walk-off win, the Rams secured at least a series victory, while Davidson (14-16, 2-3) will look to salvage a win Sunday.

Davidson led 4-2 in the eighth before the Rams scored five runs on four walks, a hit-by-pitch and Brandon Eike’s bases-clearing double.

Lefty starter Cooper Cavanaugh kept VCU (21-10, 4-1) at bay with a quality start. In six innings, he allowed three hits and two earned runs, walked two and struck out six.

For the second straight day, the Wildcats led early. They scored two runs in the first off two hits and two VCU errors. Then Eli Putnam’s two-RBI single made it 4-2 in the fourth.

Aidan Rice (2-for-4) was the lone Wildcat with multiple hits, and Noah Jouras provided the only extra-base hit with a second-inning double to left.

Sunday — Davidson hitters were limited to three hits in a 6-1 loss at Atlantic 10 foe VCU Sunday afternoon.

With the Rams’ third win of the weekend, the Wildcats fell to 14-17 overall and 2-4 in the A-10. VCU improved to 22-10 and 5-1 in the league.

Sunday’s game was a pitchers’ duel most of the way, but the Rams added four runs in the eighth to blow it open.

Davidson’s lone run came in the next half inning. Noah Jouras led off the ninth with a walk, moved to third on a Jacob Friend double and then scored on an Eli Putnamgroundout to third.

Jouras doubled to lead off the game, and Jake Wilhoit added a single in the sixth.

Starter Ryan Feczko threw 4.1 innings, allowed four hits and one earned run, walked four and struck out five.
