Lacrosse Dominant in Win Over George Mason

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson Wildcats scored 12 unanswered goals over a 28-minute period to beat George Mason comfortably on Saturday afternoon, with a 16-6 Atlantic 10 lacrosse victory.

With the result, freshman goalkeeper Kayla Joyce earned her fifth win of the season, while the ‘Cats improved to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in A-10 play.

The first quarter got out to an even 4-4 start, highlighted by a caused turnover from Julianne Carey that led directly to Jenna Skibbe’s second of four goals on the day.

George Mason took its first and only lead just one minute into the second quarter after a goal from Peyton Farley, before Josie Lambert started off Davidson’s 12-0 scoring run with her 35th goal of the season.

Throughout the surge, Davidson had six different goal scorers, including a hat trick from freshman Brooke Ross for the second-straight game. During the run, the ‘Cats also shut out the Patriots 5-0 in the third quarter, while Paige Doyle made two second-half saves.

Overall, Davidson peppered the Patriots with 41 shots and 30 on net, while the Wildcat defense collected 17 caused turnovers, four of which came from senior defender Noelle Cegielski.
