From secret wounds to traumatic revelations, the media circus surrounding the case puts Lebanon through a social explosion, forcing Toni and Yasser to reconsider their lives and prejudices.

Oscar-nominated Best Foreign Language Film of the Year, Winner of Best Actor award at the Venice Film Festival and nominated for the Golden Lion. 22 wins and 20 nominations in all, including multiple prizes for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor.

Rotten Tomatoes Critics’ Consensus: The Insult uses its familiar courtroom drama framework to deliver a hard-hitting statement on modern Middle Eastern politics that’s as gripping as it is thought-provoking.”

“Superbly acted by all concerned and filmed in an unobtrusive, loosely fluid style, The Insult is provocative and inclusive.” David Stratton, The Australian

The Insult provides a valuable, fascinating and hard-hitting history lesson on Middle East politics, particularly the plight of Palestinians. It instructs but offers no easy answers.” Claudia Puig, The Asahi Shimbun GLOBE (Japan)

“It shows that even in the most hostile of situations, with all of our prejudices in front of and behind us, we’re still in this together.” Adam Graham, Detroit News

“A serious, powerful film that offers not only emotion but also empathy.” Richrd Crouse

The Insult is a timely film in the world of extreme political polarization and where political correctness is viewed as a bad thing, and that every word that we utter still matters, that there are consequences to what we say.” Dustin Chang, ScreenAnarchy
