The ODD Sock: April News
The ODD Sock was fortunate in March to receive a donation of over 5,000 pairs of socks from TCK-Sports based here in Conover, North Carolina. We also received 40,000 socks from Hanes Sock drive. We have been extremely busy delivering these socks to those in need.
Also, in March the Pilot Club of China Grove, North Carolina made a donation of socks, and the Community School of Davidson did a service day and sorted socks for us. We are so thankful for all the donations and volunteering!
April is “Spring out of Socks” collection month when we collect clean, single, paired, and gently used socks. Collection bins in Davidson are located at Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream on Main Street; Whit’s Frozen Custard on South Main Street; The Egg Cafe on Griffith Street; and 77 Grounds Coffee Shop on Jetton Street.
Volunteers are needed for sock sorting on Wednesdays at 3:30 – 4:30 pm at 409 Jetton St. in Davidson for sock sorting. Please email [email protected] to schedule a day to volunteer.
This month we will deliver socks to Isaiah 58 ministries in Goldsboro, North Carolina and Atlanta Mission in Atlanta, Georgia, along with additional locations North Carolina and South Carolina.
We will have a Saturday Service Day on April 20 at ImaginOn, The Joe & Joan Martin Center, 300 E 7th St, Charlotte, North Carolina from 10 a.m. – 1 2.p.m. Please register at the Charlotte/Mecklenburg Library website.
There will be sock sorting by The Relief Society within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in April. Parkside Elementary and Mallard Creek Preschool will also be hosting a sock collection in April.
We are blessed to have so many soccer donations. We still need financial help to make these deliveries possible. Please consider donating financially to the ODD Sock!
