The Associated Colleges of the South (ACS) is pleased to announce Dr. Anna Drake Warshaw as its next president, effective July 1, 2024.

Warshaw is a national leader in student-centered innovation in higher education. She has served most recently as managing director of the University Innovation Alliance, a national consortium of public research universities committed to increasing the number and diversity of college graduates.

A graduate of ACS member institution Davidson College, Warshaw earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Policy from the University of Texas at Austin, where she received the College of Education Dean’s Research Fellowship. She later served as University Innovation Alliance Fellow and assistant director of the Center for Higher Education Innovation at the University of Central Florida, then as Director of Partnerships, Learning, and Evaluation for the University Innovation Alliance.

“We’re thrilled to have a lifelong advocate for higher education who understands our members and has the experience and skills to lead the ACS into the future,” said Milton Moreland, chair of the ACS Board of Directors and president of Centre College. “Dr. Warshaw shares the dedication of our ACS member institutions to enhancing the liberal arts and sciences while keeping these transformative collegiate experiences affordable.”

As president, Warshaw will collaborate with a board of presidents and council of chief academic officers to initiate and support ACS’s ongoing programs, oversee the consortium’s strategic plan, and cultivate new opportunities for partnership and collaboration that advance the liberal arts.

“ACS institutions provide transformational learning experiences that develop critical thinkers and civic leaders,” Warshaw said. “I am thrilled to work with the ACS network to support the pivotal role residential liberal arts colleges play in their students’ lives, our communities, and the higher education sector.”
