Lacrosse Hosts St. Bonaventure in Home Finale

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson lacrosse team will play its final home game of the season this Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.

Saturday’s game will serve as one part of the formal dedication to the brand new Davidson College Stadium, with a ribbon cutting ceremony taking place at 3:45 p.m. Davidson football’s spring game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

The contest will air on ESPN+ at 1 p.m.with live stats available at davidsonwildcats.com/coverage.

SERIES HISTORY… The ‘Cats hold the all-time series at a 7-0 advantage over St. Bonaventure, most recently defeating the Bonnies 11-10 in Olean, NY last season.

ABOUT THE BONNIES… Bona’s lacrosse team sits at 7-8 overall and 3-4 in league play, picking up conference wins over George Washington, La Salle and Duquesne. Fiona McGovern leads the way with 50 points (28G, 22A) while Brooke Piper has a team-best 31 goals. As a team, the Bonnies average 11.4 goals per game.

LAST TIME OUT… For the first time since 2015, and just the second time ever, the Davidson Wildcats defeated Saint Joseph’s 10-9 in Atlantic 10 lacrosse action last weekend. In a game that took all 60 minutes to determine its winner, the Wildcats ultimately outscored the Hawks 6-3 in the second half despite trailing 6-4 at the halftime break. Senior goalkeeper Paige Doyle proved to be clutch for the ‘Cats, making six stops in cage over the final 30 minutes of the contest.

SKIBBE’S STATURE… Freshman phenom Jenna Skibbe has captured five A-10 Rookie of the Week honors this season, ranking among the top-7 in the league in total goals (37) and goals per game (6th/2.85).

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE… Davidson’s back line is one of the most experienced defensive units in the nation, with the makeup of four-year veterans Alyssa Natoli, Noelle Cegielski, Morgan O’Brien and Brynn Jones. Between the four, they have played in 230 games while causing 173 turnovers and picking up 274 ground balls.
